Academics
“AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. The emphasis on these pursuits was instilled by the four founding members of AOII in 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York, and this commitment remains a strong part of AOII today.”
The Chi Psi chapter of AOII offers an extensive academic program to help assist its members to excel academically. Members are encouraged to set academic goals for themselves and meet their personal expectations as they progress through their collegiate years.
Academic Resources:
Our academic program is organized by our Vice President of Academic Development. She is the chapter’s resource for information on anything academic related including, but not limited to, tutoring, study skills workshops, and study abroad information.
Awards and Recognition:
Our chapter encourages academic excellence by recognizing members throughout the quarter for their accomplishments. Members who receive an A on a test, quiz, project, or paper the week before a chapter meeting are entered into a raffle for a smart cookie award. The quarter ends with the recognition of members who have excelled through the 10 weeks. The “Pi Award” is given to members who received a G.P.A. of 3.14 or higher. Members who achieved a 4.0 G.P.A. receive the “Smarty Pants Award” and are awarded with a Victoria's Secret gift certificate.
Diamond Jubilee Scholarship:
The Diamond Jubilee Scholarship is a scholarship given by AOII International Headquarters. The recipients exhibit excellence in academics while dedicating time in serving the community and Alpha Omicron Pi.
